// outbound business calls
Call customers back as your business
Professional Calling lets an eligible LineHQ app or compatible SIP device make outbound calls. Keep your personal number separate and choose an eligible, verified business caller ID.
// the short answer
Professional Calling access is included on Mobile, Reception and Scale, on monthly and annual plans, with no separate access fee. It is not self-serve on Pay As You Go. Device access, caller-ID eligibility and account checks apply. Eligible UK outbound calls cost 5p per billed whole minute, paid from calling credit, never from your forwarding minutes.

Ring in or call out
Receiving a call in the app and placing an outbound call are different capabilities. App ringing does not by itself mean you have Professional Calling or outbound credit.
Use your business identity
Choose an eligible LineHQ number for outbound caller ID. The number must pass the carrier’s caller-ID checks before it can be presented.
Keep an externally held number
You can add an eligible UK number you own elsewhere and prove control by SMS or voice verification. Using it as caller ID does not port the number or move its incoming calls and texts.
Separate outgoing usage
Outbound calls are billed from calling credit at the rate shown in your account. They never use your forwarding minutes.
Before your first outbound call
Check your package and access
Mobile, Reception and Scale include Professional Calling access without another subscription. Check your plan in Billing. Your account may need identity verification and device access before setup can finish.
Set up a supported device
Install the LineHQ mobile app or configure a compatible SIP device using the details in Devices. Follow the account’s readiness messages; do not reuse another customer’s credentials.
Verify the number you will show
Use an eligible LineHQ number or, where enabled, verify a UK number you control elsewhere. Verification proves control; it does not buy, port or provide inbound service for that number.
Check credit and the displayed rate
Add calling credit before dialling. Current standard outbound calls are 5p/min; destination restrictions and spending limits apply. This is not an emergency-calling service.
Frequently asked questions
Is Professional Calling included in my plan?
Access is included on Mobile, Reception and Scale, whether you pay monthly or annually. Outbound usage is separate at 5p per billed whole minute from calling credit. It is not self-serve on Pay As You Go. Account and device eligibility still apply.
Can I receive app calls without making outbound calls?
Yes, when device access and your incoming routing are set up. App ringing is separate from permission to place chargeable outbound calls.
Can I show a number I own with another provider?
Where external caller-ID verification is enabled, you can prove control of an eligible UK number using an SMS or voice code. A verified identity remains subject to expiry and carrier rules. Its calls and texts stay with the existing provider unless you separately move that service.
Does choosing a caller ID change my incoming call route?
No. Outbound identity and inbound routing are separate settings. A compatible client may offer a Call from choice for an individual call; available controls depend on the installed app version. A desk phone normally uses its configured default.
Can LineHQ replace my emergency phone line?
No. LineHQ does not support 999 or 112 emergency calls. Keep a working mobile or other suitable phone service for emergencies.
