// LineHQ for Cal.com
Your AI receptionist books straight into Cal.com
LineHQ gives your business a UK phone number and an AI receptionist that answers routine questions from the details you set. Connect your Cal.com and it offers callers the times your calendar shows as free, then books the one they choose, while they are still on the phone.

What it does
Offers only your free times
The AI receptionist reads the times your Cal.com shows as free for the event type you choose, and offers the caller two at a time. It never offers a time Cal.com does not list.
Books the caller's choice
When the caller says yes, the booking is made in your Cal.com while they are still on the line, with the number they rang from and their name where LineHQ has it.
Texts missed callers your link
Switch it on for a number and a caller nobody answered, who left no voicemail, gets a text with your Cal.com booking link. It is sent from a number on your account that can send texts, uses your text credit, goes to UK mobiles only, and reaches each caller at most once a day per number.
Keeps up with Cal.com
Confirm, move or cancel a booking the AI made and your LineHQ To-dos follow. A caller who rings back about a booking for today or tomorrow can move it to another free time.
Connect in three steps
You need a LineHQ plan with the AI receptionist and an account on cal.com. Each business on your LineHQ account can connect its own Cal.com.
-
1 · Create a Cal.com API key
In Cal.com, open Settings, then Developer, then API keys, and create a key that never expires.
-
2 · Paste it into LineHQ
In LineHQ, open AI receptionist and paste the key into the Cal.com calendar card for your business. Only the account owner can connect it.
-
3 · Pick the default event type
Choose the event types the AI may book and which one is the default, then set Bookings to Book a time in your Cal.com. LineHQ checks each event type can take a phone booking and offers to fix it if not.
What callers hear
The AI receptionist says it is an automated assistant, finds out what the caller needs, then offers two free times. If neither suits, it offers the next ones, or a day the caller names. It reads the chosen time back as a question before anything is booked.
If your event type books instantly, the caller hears that they are booked. If you confirm bookings yourself, they hear that the team will confirm.
AI
I can do Tuesday at 10:00 or Wednesday at 14:30. Which would suit you?
Caller
Wednesday afternoon, please.
AI
So that's Wednesday at 14:30. Shall I book that for you?
Caller
Yes, thanks.
AI
You're booked for Wednesday at 14:30.

Your data
What Cal.com receives
To make a booking, the number the caller rang from, their name where LineHQ has it, the time they chose, a one-line note of what they need when there is one, and a short reference back to LineHQ. It goes to your own Cal.com account, which handles it under its terms.
What stays in LineHQ
Call recordings, transcripts and summaries. Your API key is stored encrypted and is never shown again after you paste it. See the privacy policy for the rest.
Questions, answered
Can it double-book me?
The AI only offers times Cal.com lists as free, and Cal.com checks the time again when the booking is made. If someone took it in the meantime, Cal.com refuses it and the AI offers the caller another time.
Is the booking confirmed straight away?
That follows your event type in Cal.com. If it books instantly, the caller hears that they are booked. If it requires your confirmation, the caller hears that the team will confirm, and the booking waits for you in Cal.com and on your To-dos.
Does the caller need a mobile number?
The booking uses the number the caller rang from. If it is withheld, the AI takes their details so your team can call them back. If Cal.com will not accept the number, no booking is made. The missed-call booking text goes to UK mobiles only.
What does Cal.com need from my event type?
A phone caller has no email address to give, so the event type must ask for a phone number and not require an email. LineHQ checks this when you choose an event type, and Fix it for me changes just those two questions in your Cal.com when you click it.
Can different menu options book different appointments?
Yes. The default event type is used unless a receptionist menu option or department you set up names another one.
Which Cal.com accounts work?
Accounts on cal.com, connected with an API key. Self-hosted Cal.com is not supported.
How do I stop it?
Click Disconnect in the Cal.com calendar card. The AI then stops booking into Cal.com: if Bookings is still set to appointments it offers times from your LineHQ calendar instead, so change Bookings too if you want it to stop offering times. Bookings already made stay in your Cal.com.
